Partnership Management Volunteers support IHF partners. Our PMV team is an important part of the network of relationships that keeps the IHF connected and communicating.
Many of these volunteers began working with their partners as IHF student volunteers. Since PMVs are not students, their continuing presence translates into a continuity of relationship with our international partner organizations, despite the ebb and flow of students working with our partners. Their prior field experience provides relevant expertise and is a practical complement to the students’ academic knowledge of development issues.
The PMV role is like a chameleon that must adapt to the always changing needs of each situation; attending meetings, sponsoring relevant workshops, reviewing and stewarding funding processes, encouraging direct communication between the partner sites and the students, role playing, being a sounding board for problem solving, helping seek markets, advising on travel details. The goal of the PMV is to maximize the quality of the relationship between the students and their international partner, or to maximize the potential of the international partners that do not have university chapters associated with them.
