Sarah is a recent addition to the IHF Board of Directors.
Sarah visited Santiago Atitlán and met women who struggle to provide for their families, faced with barriers to economic opportunity, discrimination, social and political instability, and who still suffer the effects of civil war and natural disaster. Just Apparel’s Fair Trade labor practices and adaptation of traditional craftsmanship for the modern market create new opportunities for women to support themselves and their children.
Sarah is a Ph.D. student at the University of Southern California School of Policy, Planning and Development. Her research focuses on urban housing, including topics such as affordability, residential mobility, and neighborhood quality. Beyond her work, Sarah enjoys traveling, reading, cooking, and spending time outdoors and with friends.
