The Organization for Comprehensive Community Development
La Organización para el Desarollo Comunitario Integral or ODECOIN is a local Honduran non-profit organization working to provide education, opportunities, and a better life for the children, young persons, and parents of urban and rural communities in Honduras.
Each year on the Day of the Child (September 10) and Christmas Day, ODECOIN provides educational supplies, Christmas gifts, and hot meals to hundreds of children in some of Honduras’s poorest neighborhoods. ODECOIN also helps make education possible by running Instituto Evangélico Transformación, a free secondary school for teens who would otherwise be without secondary schooling opportunities.
In addition, ODECOIN helps facilitate vocational education for adult family members of the children they serve.
The University of New Hampshire chapter of IHF works together with ODECOIN, contributing to the process of empowerment that allows families and communities to better help themselves.
