Our Partner: Cooperativa Ropa Justa
Formed in September 2007 specifically to work with the IHF on the Just Apparel initiative, Cooperativa Ropa Justa is a group of 24 artisan women from Santiago Atitlán, Guatemala. They work together to produce fair trade apparel products for export to the United States.
Our Project: Just Apparel
Just Apparel is an innovative new approach to fair trade that brings ethically produced, high quality hand-embroidered apparel products, such as sweatshirts and polos, to campuses and companies throughout the US. Relying on a foundation of traditional production methods from Santiago Atitlán, Guatemala and partnering with local indigenous women who embroider in their homes, Just Apparel provides economic opportunity for the women of Santiago and greater consumer choice for American students.
Profits from the sale of Just Apparel’s products fund the Just Apparel Community Re-investment Program, which invests in community-wide education projects in Santiago such as the Panabaj Escuelita and Scholarship Program and the Puerta Abierta Library.

How to Help
Just Apparel is about bringing ethics into economics and building a movement of people who recognize that how they spend their money has consequences around the world. If you want to be part of that movement, there are three ways you can get involved.
Buy
Go to www.justapparel.org and place an order for ethically produced sweatshirts, polos, t-shirts, or tote bags.
Promote
Sign up to be a Just Apparel Promoter. Promoters reach out to organizations on their campuses and in their communities to let them know that a fair trade alternative for their apparel purchases exists. Email promote@justapparel.org to join us!
Donate
Just Apparel is accepting donations to help offset the project’s operating costs and maximize the impact we can make in Santiago this year.
